Northridge Competition Solo Competition

*** No after school practice will be held on Friday December 9th. Please come and support our team soloists if you can *** Support is very appreciated!!!

-Competition Begins at 6:30 P.M.
-Admission is $5.00 ... 4 and under are free
-Check in is from 5:15-6:00 P.M.

***Soloists....Make sure you have a good CD and a back up CD...You also need to have someone in charge of your music and present at the sound table while you perform in case there is a problem. Please plan ahead who will be helping you out!!!!!

All State!

Our All State Representatives did just that....they Represented in an AMAZING way!!!!!! So proud of all of them! CONGRATS to Raini for making the 4A All State Team and to Sierra and Hayley for rocking it and getting called back!!! Love you all so much! SO proud!!!!!

MILITARY

*Hello! Hello! Alrighty! Your $25.00 Military Clinic fee is due Now! Please pay along with your November dues and-or Comp fee if you haven't paid those either!!!!!

*All team members are required to pay this clinic fee even if they are not placed in the routine. Each dancer benefits from the clinics and gains knowledge and experience from these clinics whether or not they are placed in the routine!

*Remember...Coaches will not take phone calls regarding routine auditions. This process of competition routines being auditioned was addressed and agreed to by parents and dancers before auditioning to become a BEHS Rockette.

Basketball Half-Time Dates...

*New Rule....Week night basketball games will not be mandatory to attend unless we are performing and then you will be allowed to leave after half-time. I have found the week night games can be hard with the hours we keep. Going from practice to half-time and staying at the game and then turning around for another early morning. FRIDAY night game are still MANDATORY!

What To Wear To School & The Game!!!!!!

You will receive a dress shirt today at after school practice. You will wear that dress shirt with nice jeans and dress shoes to school tomorrow!!!!!

For the game - I would like you in full warm ups (wear what you would like underneath in order to keep warm) - several have not paid for warm ups yet....I can't give you your pants until I receive payment.....

Homecoming Practice & Performance

....Morning Practice....Field Practice....Assembly (1:50)....Halftime....

*You will wear your Gray T Shirt and Black Dance Pants and Black Dance Shoes for the homecoming field practice with the school......*Freshman will need transportation after.
***ALSO PACK YOUR PURPLE HOODIE AND SWEAT BOTTOMS WITH YOU FOR THE FIELD PRACTICE IN CASE THEY ARE NEEDED***

*We will have purple tops for you to wear for Homecoming Assembly and Half Time. They were getting finished today.....should have them to you by the end of practice or at morning's practice....

*You will wear the purple top and tank (bras CANNOT show)....Black Dance Pants, Black Tights (no undies)....Black Dance shoes.

*Hair will be slicked on top....left part....middle of the head curly pony tail....matching elastic....Rhinestoned pony tail holders have been ordered and should be here with your tops.

-You wear the same thing for both performances!!!!!

$50.00 Comp Fee

Your $50.00 competition fee (refer to your paper work from tryouts) was due October 1st. We will allow this fee to paid anytime this month. Halloween will be the final due date!

Money Due....

There are so many accounts past due....several still owing dues back to June as well as the 20.00 for the extra shirt, etc. I have just about everyone's accounts figured out and will be letting you know soon. We need accounts up to date heading into competition season. It is very important!

Remember.....

Remember that there are additional costs associated with being in extra routines *it was explained before auditioning for the team - *if you don't want to pay the extra you don't have to be in the routines....all Rockettes still pay the fees when routines are learned - they are considered 'clinics' and benefit all team members in learning and growing through dance!

*You will be in charge of your own lyrical costume - we will chat about it at practice.....

Thatcher Smoot Fundraiser

*Fundraiser begins and 5:00 P.M. - Rockettes will have roll call at 4:00 P.M.

*The event will be held in the commons area and the bake sale will be held in the hallway leading to the library.

*Each Rockette needs to make one batch of something...approved by Rachel....and get them to Donna Maddox by 12:00 P.M. on Saturday - Donna needs time to sort and price the items :)
-Baked goods to be given to Donna pre-packaged/in disposable containers.

*The fundraiser is set to end at 8:00 P.M......Rockettes need to plan on staying until 8:30 to help with the clean up!!!

Saturdays....UEA

Every Saturday that we can hold practice, we will hold practice....7:00-10:00 A.M. each Saturday unless you are told differently!!!

We will perform on the Thursday of UEA - you will then have the rest of the UEA break off from practice!!!!

Routine Auditions....

*****Remember that routine auditions will be this Saturday.....***ALSO - Please remember that auditioning competition routines is part of being a member of a VARSITY sport competition team. Each one of you - as well as your parents were informed and signed paper work in reference to understanding this process before auditioning for Rockettes. Coaches always do their best at doing what is best for the team over all!!! You will all do amazing and your part on the team is important no matter what routines you compete in. COACHES WILL NOT TAKE PHONE CALLS IN REFERENCE TO PLACEMENT IN ROUTINES AFTER AUDITIONS!!!!!!! There will also be more auditions to come. No ones favorite part of Rockettes, but very necessary!!!!

Missing Practice.....

I have some concern about the amount of practice that will be missed in August! We have so much of the summer off that when we are ON we need to be there. I do realize that many things are out of your control like church camps, etc. BUT - Please make every effort to be at all practices that you possibly can. It is hard on you and your team when you aren't there.......Thank You So Much!

Team Picture for the Football Program

Hey Team!!! On Monday Morning - August 8....When we meet at the track to run :)......We will be having a team picture taken for the football program, so come cute :) Dana Yeates will be taking the picture and emailing it in for us! Thank You Dana!

You need to wear your Black Dance Pants, Converse, and Your Black & Purple Diamond Top......We have to have it done then to get it turned in on time! Hugs!

There will not be any practice on Thursday August 11th......get ready for a Major Practice on the 12th......

ALSO.....

We will be practicing at Mt. View during August....We had the Nat scheduled, but there is water under the floor and the entire floor is torn up....just FYI!!! We still meet at the track to run each day! Make sure the wear your biggest smile each day to the track!!!

Change In *Upcoming Events*

Please note : There is a change in 'Upcoming Events' ....... the Friday September 9th game against Syracuse has been moved to Weber State University and Rockettes will be performing. Yes! We will be busy with half-time the week before and parade the next morning :) Hooray! This means we will not be performing on the 30th - That will be used for Cow Dung now :)

ATTIRE for Hip Hop Clinic -

You will wear your plain black sports top to practice that day and then you are allowed to wear what ever sweats or sneakers and such that you would like with it :) XO!

Competition Fee

You $50.00 competition fee will be due by October 1st - if you wanna write that down with your upcoming expenses :)

Summer Credit Fee

Everyone pays the $50.00 Summer credit fee even if you have all of your PE credits. This expense was listed along with the other expenses on the papers before you auditioned :)

Hip Hop Clinic - Date Change!!!

Competition Routines...

Please REMEMBER - as we are coming upon competition season and competition preparation, that ALL routines that are competed are subject to audition! Please REMEMBER that you were aware of this and understood this before auditioning to become a member of Rockettes.....or signing for your daughter to become a member of Rockettes. We compete as a varsity sport. Some dancers will be in every routine, and some may not make any. This does happen. We are hoping to have at least one routine that the whole team will compete in. That may or may not happen. We will see how things work out.

We are so excited and can't wait to get to work! This year is going to be fabulous!!!!

Hip Hop

.We will be learning our competition Hip Hop on Monday August 8th!

.We will be practicing at 8:00 A.M. and practice that day will be held at Mt. View.....

.We will practice from 8:00-12:00 and then have a lunch break - after lunch, we will practice until 3:00 P.M. (unless we get done earlier)

.This is a competition routine and is subject to audition as are ALL competition routines. There is a $20.00 hip hop "clinic" fee for every member of the team whether or not they are competing in the routine. All team members partake in the clinic and benefit from working with new teachers :)

*** Remember there are seperate costume fees associated with these "extra" competition routines. If you would rather not be in the routine, let me know :)

You will get your Secret Sister assignment at practice on Friday. If you want to start planning ahead......you will need 3 gifts.....its a good idea to give inspirational quotes/stories, etc. with your gifts :)

Black & White Converse


Every Rockette needs a pair of low black and white Converse, Chuck Taylor, All Stars - for drill camp. They have these in several stores as well as on line. Famous Footwear / journeys.com / jcpenney.com, etc. I do allow the Payless ones also. We will also be getting another pair of team sneakers (so watch the blog :) , but always keep these on hand.

Down East Shirts


Every Rockette needs to purchase a -black- and a -white- Down East 'Short Sleeve Crew ' Shirt. We will wear these with our warm up suits and our sweat suits. You can purchase these in a Down East store or on line at downeastbasics.com for $11.99. You do not need to have these for camp.

Hello......Enjoyed Your Break ? :)

Please make sure you read through the blog. Several things have been overlooked this year that were posted on the blog :) Thanks and Hugs!

I am a little slow here, although.....I did post on facebook :)

I just wanted to congratulate everyone on their personal and team accomplishments this year. I have seen so much growth from all of you in so many different ways. Drill Team can be a tough business......but so satisfying knowing you were involved in something bigger than yourself and you gave it your all......physically and emotionally.....Anything worth doing involves sacrifice and dedication! Congrats!

I am especially proud of our Sportsmanship Award :) What a great moment!

What a great year!

I will be posting the date for the banquet very soon......and no, Dani has not had her baby yet...poor girl! They will start her on Friday if she doesn't have her by then :) So exciting!

Remember....Practice after school today is only until 4:30 P.M......we have several girls that won't be there.

We are currently putting together the fundraising packets for the invitational.... We will be getting those to you soon. You will each sell 150 of the Donation/Raffle tickets. You can start checking with family,etc. now!

Tights..............

We have had several issues with tights lately.....Every Rockette needs to have that figured out and taken care of by Region.................

HALF TIMES

We will be performing Dance for half time on Feb. 2......

For Feb. 11.....We will have a couple of soloists perform.....the best way to do this will be by the highest 2 or 3 placing solos during the competition season, as well as availability of dancers....we have several Rockettes that will be missing practices during the week due to State Wrestling and Vacations, etc. It will make it difficult to do any team routines.

Region, Etc...... CONGRATS!

*I need to see all mid term grades any notes from teachers by THIS Wed.

**Don't forget to make your posters for region schools....if you were assigned one.............

***on Friday to school you will wear BEST DRESS - black, white, and purple....
To the competition you will wear (to be announced)
