Jordan Beet Classic Competition

Here is the preliminary information I have been given.

It is all subject to change.

Competition location is at Jordan High School

Competition is scheduled to start at 7:55 A.M.

I was not given entrance costs, but it is usually around $7.00-$10.00 per person.  Plan accordingly.

They left us off of the lyrical schedule, but it looks like that would be our first routine...right around 8:00 A.M.

ESTIMATE TIMES ARE

Around 9:00 A.M. - Hip Hop
Around 10:00 A.M.- Military
Around 1:00 P.M.- Dance

Awards....Approximately 4:30 P.M.

PLEASE cheer loud.  Wear your purple.  Support all of our team's routines.  Not just the ones that your daughter is in. Be kind and good sports in the stands. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE and support our team. We are SO excited. Can't wait!!!!!

ALSO - Make sure to be on top of getting everything ready that you will need.  Lets be overprepared :) xo.

Practices...

Hopefully...Starting this Saturday....we will be holding Saturday practices at the Natatorium....

Also...Plan on practicing on Wednesday November 21 from 7-10 at the Natatorium.  We will have the rest of Thanksgiving Break off.

Competition Tights, Shoes, Etc.

Make sure that all of your competition tights, shoes, etc. are all in good performing order!!

***Please be on top of having your shoes and tights and other competition accessories ready as soon as possible***

ALSO - Start making your competition kit. *Eyelashes, glue, safety pins, bobby pins, hair nets, elastics that match your hair, electrical tape, gel, red permanent lip stick, nail polish remover, strong hair spray...All the good stuff. Get it all ready - well ahead of time.

HAIR: As of right now...We will be wearing a FULL bun on top of our head.  If you need to get hair pieces, etc. to make this happen, please be working on that right now!  Thank You!

*Reminder...Coaches do not take or respond to emails, texts, phone calls, etc. over audition results.  Everyone understood the audition process before auditioning for Rockettes.  The coaches will communicate with the dancers on the areas of the routine that they need to improve on :)

Also...We will practice at 6:00 A.M. on Wednesday


Solos...

I will be getting the competition information out to you shortly.  If you would like to attend additional competitions for solo, let me know and I can tell you where to find that information.

Also....If we end up using solos for any half time performances....The soloists that place the highest during competition season will be the solos that will perform at half times.

Reminder....

If you are in the lyrical and hip hop routines....Remember that there are additional costume fees associated with those routines as explained before auditions.  Thanks :)

Sorry for the delay in blogging....When I see everyone so often at practice...It seems that I don't keep up on the blogging as well...

*You have all known since August that Saturday practices would begin starting in October.
I will list practice dates along the side of the blog.

*Due in October....October Dues and Competition Fee (all fees were listed on paper work at tryouts)

*Past Due...Any other dues (15 ea.), Real (35), Blazer & Tank (30), Summer (50), Gray Zippered Sweats (40),Warm Ups (100) or (50) each piece if you ordered new items...along with any of amounts that you have been made aware of.

*2 Performances on October 12....This Friday is  the week of a performance...Please keep up on your constitution rules.  If you need another copy, let me know.

We have had a big handful of performances early in the year this year.  I have been very pleased with all of them and where this team is headed.  Congratulations to each one of you!!

-It is time to get your Athletic Packets from Kim Petersen and pay your athletic fee....ASAP....He wants them done as soon as possible.

-Please, Please, Please get your accounts and your dues caught up.

-$50.00 Competition Fee is due October 1st.

-Costume Fees for those in lyrical and hip hop routines, will be posted soon.

-I will post any amounts for anything as soon as I know them.

**Please make sure that you have tan shoes for the Homecoming half time.  As well as caramel Capezio matching tights**

-We will have roll call at 5:30 P.M. for the Jr. Parade and at 9:00 A.M. for the Peach Days Parade.

Updates...

.Several of you still owe money for things from the summer (60.00 for extra clothes, Summer Credit, Summer Dues, ReAL, etc.)...I need you to get your accounts caught up ASAP.  September dues are due by next Wednesday.

.No after school practice tonight due to the practice out at Bear River...Roll call at the high school at 7:30.
We will be having rootbeer floats with the hi-steppers after the practice.

.I will hand out pants and tanks for the hello assembly performance - tonight after the Bear River practice.  We will talk then about performance hair, etc. 

.Assembly is scheduled during 5th hour tomorrow at the high school. Approx. 12:48 P.M.

.I will excuse the freshman at 11:45 and pick them up at Noon.  Sophomores and up will be excused at 12:00. Meet in the locker room.

.We will not have after school practice tomorrow (Friday) either. Due to performance, etc.

.We will have roll call at 5:35 tomorrow evening to catch the bus with the cheer leaders out to Bear River.  Bus is scheduled for 5:45.  We will be staying for the whole game and riding home together as a team.

.I will let you know after the practice tonight what we will be wearing for the half- time.  It is up to their coach. Stay tuned....I should have time to get it on the blog tonight.

Here We Go!!

**Bring your water bottle. Snacks. Pack a lunch, or bring money for one. Bring money for what ever you will need to last you the day and while at the stadium*

-6:00 A.M. Roll Call at the High School.

-WEAR: Black Bums, Black Rockette T Shirt, High Tops (Wear Black Yoga Pants and Hoodie over the top if you are cold in the morning)...Bring some extra Sneakers that you can dance in because Jordan in turf...

-Hair....Slick, High Top, Knot Bun

-7:30 A.M. Arrive at Jordan Football Stadium to Warm Up.

-8:00-9:30 Practice Time

-9:30 - Transportation takes team to the REAL Stadium 

-10-11 - Practice at the REAL Stadium.

-11-1:30 - Lunch break..This time will be used to get lunch AND get completely ready for the performance.
(You will get your game ticket and performance shirt at this time)

-1:30-3:30 - Practice at Jordan High School

-3:30-4:30 - Freshen up and get performance ready inside Jordan High School.

-4:30 - Head back to REAL stadium

(Top Corp Finalist Dancers have been asked to help with the flag ceremony...
There is a practice for this at 5:00)

-Spectators may enter stadium at 6:0

-Game Starts at 7:00

-Half-Time will be around 7:45

For the PERFORMANCE:

-Black Sports Bra, Black Tights, Black Yoga Pants, Black Dance Shoes.
-Makeup: Please wear natural eye makeup with lashes, performance quality blush, and bright red lips. No jewelry. No gum. No nail poish.

Pack light with a small bag (Yellow and Gray bags) because space is limited!


Team Pants....

$40.00 for team pants (like the black ones your tried on at practice) will be due Friday August 24th.  Please make sure that all other fees are paid and caught up.

Yo!!

Things will get real crazy - real quick as soon as we come back to practice!!  You should be staying in shape and practicing like crazy!!  You will have to be right on top of your game!!  What to wear to practice is listed along the side...check it out.

Money Due....

On the first day back to practice...You will need to bring your August dues.

Many of you still owe past dues, etc.  If you did not pay your July Dues and $50.00 credit fee, that will be due that day too along with ANYTHING else you owe for.  Accounts need to be caught up and kept up.  I need as much help from you as possible in keeping track of where you are on your account.

New Team members will have to purchase warm ups.  They are $100.00.

After that...there are just a few more clothing items to be paid for.

Remember...If you are in Hip Hop and Lyrical...There are extra costume fees associated there. As explained prior to auditioning.

Cow Dung

Cow Dung...The Cow Dung Contest will be held on Tuesday October 9.  We will have it announced at the half-time on October 12.

Future Rockettes

Monday August 20 - Thursday August 23 (evening...Times TBA)

Start getting your girls lined up NOW!!  You will get your packets of info. when we come back to practice!

**Future Rockettes will be a lot different this year** Make sure you pass this information along when you are signing them up!!

We will NOT be doing a half-time performance with them this year.  They will now be requiring parents to purchase tickets to watch the half-time.  So we will just be doing clinics and have a performance night at the end of clinics.  We will also be walking in the Jr. Peach Days Parade.  They will still receive T-Shirts, treats, etc.

We will always meet at the track and then practice at Mt. View, unless other wise informed!

What I Wear At Camp...

Monday: Black Bums, Pink Sports Top, Black Dance Shoes, and Black Racer Back Sports Bra for dancing at drill camp.  Wear your Black Yoga Pants, striped hoodie, and high tops over them for when we meet in the morning, walking to the high school, etc.

Tuesday: Cheetah Pants, Purple Sports Top, Tan Bra (if you don't have one...ask other team members to share) Tan Dance Shoes. Wear Gray Sweatshirt in the morning if you are cold.

Wednesday: Black Yoga Pants, White Lace Top & Tank, White Racer Back Sports Bra, Black Dance Shoes.  Wear striped hoodie in the morning.

* All Bra rules need to be followed.
** You will wear the team high tops for walking to and from each day and during your hip hop classes, but you will want to bring your own sneakers for conditioning in the mornings.
***HAIR:  We will be wearing our hair - Left part - Slicked to the right - Middle of the head curly pony tail.  Hair elastics must blend with your hair color.  No crazy colors allowed.
****You will need to wear black or tan underwear under your black bums and yoga pants.  No exceptions.  You may also want to wear your black bums under your cheetah pants and that would be just fabulous.
*****Pack your gray sweats in your gray and yellow bag.  You will put your sweats on for hip hop classes each day.

Team High Tops...

Cheyenne Crafton's mother found our team high tops online on finishline.com for $19.98.  They have limited sizing, but still have some in stock if you haven't gotten yours yet.  I ordered an extra pair there for Ellie - Just in case her are looking hammered by competition season.  Just I thought I would pass along the information :) Thanks!

Here is the scoop - Getting a team back back for school and/or competitions, etc. is totally optional....If you would like to have one....I will list the ordering instructions below.  If you do order one and want it embroidered you will need to order it right away.  I will need it before we go to moritorium at the end of the month so that I can get the embroidery done over our break and they will be ready for school, etc. I will have you turn in your pack, plus the embroidery cost together - Embroidery cost TBA.  The packs are darling :) Love them!

Drill Camp & Other Fees...Read Carefully!!

**Each Rockette attending Drill Camp needs to bring $20.00 (this is in addition to the fees already paid) by THURSDAY.  With 3 dancers not attending drill camp, it changed our room occupancy, etc. and therefore the cost went up.  Thank You so much.

ALSO!!! Past Due - $15.00 May Dues, $15.00 June Dues, $30.00 Hip Hop and Lyrical Clinic Fees.

NEW AMOUNTS DUE SOON!  $15.00 July Dues & $50.00 Summer Credit Fee will be due by the last practice in June.  We do not come back to practice until into August  - so these fees will be due at the end of June prior to our moritorium!!  You can pay these any time between now and then. :)

CLOTHES!! I am working on getting the costs for all of our clothing.  I will get those to you ASAP - that money will be due as soon as our gear arrives and prior to going to camp.  YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO TAKE YOUR CLOTHES IF ALL OF YOUR OTHER FEES ARE NOT UP TO DATE - AS WELL AS PRIOR ACCOUNTS BEING UP TO DATE.

...Lyrical Routine...

Okie Dokie :) We are off and rollin' for the year.  It was good to see everyone on Saturday and get right to work. Nice Job everyone!

The new lyrical routine is very contemporary and the difficulty of the routine comes in with the movement quality.  The coreographer auditioned it on Saturday so that she can get it set on Tuesday.  Like I said...It is very difficult.  This routine as of now has a very small number of dancers in it.  That may or may not change over the course of the year. We will absolutely watch for growth and improvement. We love every one of you and are proud of each one of you.

*****PLEASE REMEMBER - Every DANCER and PARENT was made aware prior to auditioning for the team of the competition routine process and also signed papers agreeing to support decisions of coaches in regards to the team.  This is very stressful for the coaches as well as the dancers and parents.  It is a difficult position to be in and dancers are suited differently for different dances along the way.  Coaches do not take phone calls, texts, or emails regarding placement in routines - as explained prior to auditioning.  If the dancer on the team would like communication on what she can improve on, we are there to coach and help her along the way.  We would love to talk to her.  This is a Varsity level high school sport. If TEXTS or EMAILS are received from parents regarding the placement of competition routines, they will not be responded to - because it was all explained before hand.  Thank You for your cooperation in helping us to coach this team to the best of our abilities.

Dance Shoes...

I will be posting shoe information very soon.  Please keep in mind - You are REQUIRED to keep one pair of the dance shoes we use in good performance condition.  The condition of shoes used for performance from some dancers last year was unacceptable. You need to remember this and allow yourself enough time to order shoes and keep some extras on hand.  Thanks!

Lyrical & Hip Hop Routines -READ CAREFULLY

Please remember that everything about competition routines for Rockettes was explained to you in detail before you auditioned for the team.  You have a chance of being in both of these routines, not being in either one, or being in just one of them. 

EVERY team member pays the clinic fees - whether or not they are selected to compete in the routines.  They will still be learning and growing from the experience.  This was also explained prior to auditioning for the team.

...YEARS ON THE TEAM, NEW MEMBER, or RETURNING MEMBER - Does not affect who will or won't be in routines.

-The coreographers will be auditioning who they feel best fits their routines at the time.  The routines will be set for pretty tight groups in the begining.  As time goes on and practice continues....more members may or may not be added in.

* Remember your $100.00 Camp Deposit & $15.00 Monthly Dues for May are due @ Roll Call at practice on Monday May 7. NO EXCEPTIONS.

*Hip Hop Clinic*

We will have Hip Hop clinics on Friday May 18...4:00 - 8:00 P.M. and Saturday May 19...10:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M. There will be a lunch break on Saturday the 19th. Practices will be held at Infinity Dance. The cost is $30.00 per dancer for the clinics. That payment is due on the 18th - NO exceptions. This routine may be auditioned at a later date, but all dancers pay the clinic fees no matter what (as explained at the parent's meeting before tryouts). All dancers benefit from the clinic whether or not they compete the routine.

Practice....and such....

We will not have practice on Monday the 5th - but we will have practice on Tuesday the 6th and Wednesday the 7th before school.

-ROLL CALL ON THE 7TH AFTER SCHOOL IS 3:30.

-Seniors...If you are performing together...you must be practicing.

-Soloists...If anyone is willing to not do their solo...let me know :) There are a lot of you this year.
Also - if you are performing...they need to be performance ready.

Tuesday Morning Practice....

-I will be sending notes on balances due on accounts....Your accounts need to be cleared before you can tryout again or before you graduate.

-You need to tell Natalie the location you will be hanging up your Invitational poster for advertising and it must be hung by Tuesday evening.

-You also need to tell Natalie the names of your 2 sponsors or text them to me asap. You also need to make posters representing your sponsors to hang at the invitational.

-Your sponsor gifts, raffle tickets and money, sponsor posters, and all about me posters and any other extra assignments will be due at Tuesday morning the 6th's practice. NO EXCEPTIONS.

*Friday - Soloists check in between 4 & 4:30...Enter through the doors on the West side of the school...Cost is $5.00 for general public - $3.00 for team members - Children 4 & Under are free...Solo Competition begins at 5:00 P.M. ***This is all of the information that I have been given on the solo competition***

**Saturday - Competition begins at 8:30 A.M. - Approximate ending time is 6:00 P.M...Doors Open to the public at 7:30 A.M...Public enter on the West side of the school...Entry costs are $10.00 for adults and $8.00 for Students and Children...Children 4 & Under are free...No saving seats or laying our blankets will be allowed.

-The first routine we will compete on Saturday will be Hip Hop...Approx. 9:20 A.M.

***Ladies....make sure to pack money for snacks, solo comp entry, etc.....
